What implementation actually involves

The software installs itself. The work is everything around it, and skipping any of it is what turns a three-week rollout into a nine-month one.

• A chart of accounts your accountant and auditor both recognise, rather than the default template
• Tax configuration for Egyptian VAT, including the treatments that apply to your specific activity
• Opening balances migrated and reconciled, with a parallel run before you rely on it
• Invoice and document templates in Arabic and English, laid out right-to-left where they should be
• Bank feeds, recurring transactions and approval rules configured to your actual process
• ETA e-invoicing connected so submission happens inside invoicing, not after it

The part no edition includes

Zoho Books has six editions, and none of them submits to the Egyptian Tax Authority. Egyptian e-invoicing is an integration question rather than an edition question, so paying for a higher tier will not provide it.

That matters when you are choosing a tier, because the two decisions get confused constantly. Pick the edition for what your business needs — inventory, multi-currency, warehouses — and treat submission as its own piece of work.

Which edition you actually need

The most common overspend we see is a tier chosen at signup on budget rather than on need, then never revisited. The useful discipline is to name the specific capability you need from a tier before buying it.

Professional is where most trading companies land: it is the first level with sales and purchase orders, multi-currency and inventory. Elite is the step up for warehouses, batch and serial tracking, which matters if you hold stock in more than one location. If you cannot name what the higher tier gives you, you do not need it yet — and editions can be changed later.

Arabic that your finance team will actually use

Partial Arabic support is worse than none. What happens in practice is that the accounting team keeps a parallel Excel file in Arabic, and within a year the system holds a fraction of the real picture.

We configure Arabic layouts, right-to-left print formats and bilingual documents, and we train in Arabic, because our team works in Arabic every day. This is part of the implementation, not a translation pass at the end of it.

When Zoho Books is the wrong answer

It is worth saying plainly. Zoho Books is accounting software with inventory attached. If your real problem is manufacturing — multi-level BOMs, work orders, subcontracting, actual production costing — you will outgrow it, and ERPNext is the better starting point.

We implement both, so this is a recommendation rather than a pitch. Occasionally the answer is also that your current system is fine and the problem is a process, not software.
